One question we get from clients quite often is “What should I do with my pet while my home is being cleaned?” At Maid to Shine we love furry friends! Our cleaners look forward to seeing your four-legged friends each time they come to clean your home. With a little bit of planning and communication up front, your pet and your housekeeper will develop a routine that works for everyone.
We want to make sure that your pet feels comfortable and at ease when our cleaners are in your home. Make sure your cleaner knows your pet’s name, and maybe even leave out one of their favorite treats. Depending on their normal daily routine, you can leave instructions for how your cleaner should interact with your pet.
Is your pet normally crated during the day?
If your animal normally stays in a crate or kennel during the day, let your cleaner know that you’d like them to stay there. You can even move the kennel to a lesser used room and keep the door closed if you think your pet would be more comfortable that way. An office or spare bedroom that doesn’t need regular cleaning would be a great option for this.
Does your pet love to play outside?
If you have a fenced yard and would prefer that your furry friend get some outside playtime while your cleaner is at your home, just let us know. Of course, this only works when the weather cooperates. We won’t want to put your pet outside during extreme temperatures or rainy days. Additionally, if your pet is a runner or escape artist, we do ask that they stay indoors.
Is your pet easygoing?
If you have a dog or cat who is easygoing and prefers to lounge around the house, that’s okay, too! Your cleaner will go about their regular routine and your pet can continue on with his or her lounging and naps! We just ask that if they have a history of aggression or stress around strangers, you keep them crated for everyone’s safety.
Whatever you prefer, make sure you communicate with your housekeeper ahead of time so everyone is on the same page. If you’re a first-time customer, you can use this link to book online. We look forward to meeting your furry friends!
