You can visit the Glen Carbon Heritage Museum, located in a structure that was constructed in 1914 as a schoolhouse. It’s also been a blood bank, a WWII scraps metal collection center, the Civil Defense Building, Village Administration offices, a doctor’s offices, the Police Station, Teen Town, and a Library, before serving its current purpose to teach visitors on Glen Carbon-rich history. What the Museum offers a offers a wide array of artifacts that reflect the early history of the area.
You can also find the Yanda Log Cabin, a refurbished 1850s log cabin built by blacksmith William Yanda. The cottage now works as both a satellite addition of the Glen Carbon Heritage Museum and as a reminder of the Land of Goshen era.
In 1920, the Doughboy Statue was made and dedicated to watch over the tombs of two young men who were killed in France in 1919 during World War I. The statue was rehabilitated and rededicated in 2017.

Opened in 2013, Ray M. Schon Park is located on a beautiful rolling tract of green space across from Glen Carbon Village Hall on Main Street. Although this park is a work-in-progress, it serves visitors and residents alike with its pavilions, benches, pond, and walking trail. It is indeed a perfect spot rest, unwind, and rejuvenate.
Miner Park is found in Old Town and is the Village's right family picnic area. Spread out over several acres, and the park accommodates users with a variety of recreational activities from the young to the old. Whether it's a picnic or you want some quiet solitude, Miner Park will meet your needs.
Village Hall Park is a 3-acre facility located directly behind the Village Hall at 151 North Main Street. This park is the first sporting and recreational complex within Glen Carbon. Among its many attractions, the park boasts a Little Folks Playground constructed at the insistence of moms that had older children in league baseball activities.
